Power On Family Services (originally Power On Counselling) started back in 2005 with Bernie and Rita Klar both having completed their counselling and family therapy training with the Australian Institute of Family Counselling.Rita did further study in 2011 and 2012 and obtained her Graduate Diploma in Counselling (Family Therapy).After spending 18 months living and working in Emerald in Central Queensland, working with children under Child Safety Department orders (Rita) and managing the Regional Domestic Violence service and other counselling services (Bernie), they returned to Brisbane.Rita started a fly-in / fly-out counselling practice in Emerald (now operated on a Skype and telephone basis) and re-commenced counselling in Brisbane again working with adults with individual and relationship issues but also now able to help with entrenched family issues. Rita has also taken up sessional work at Gnadenfrei Counselling and Psychology at Kallangur.Bernie has practiced law for almost 30 years with an emphasis on litigation including family law. He also trained specifically in dispute resolution or mediation, working with Relationships Australia and Centacare in Brisbane at the Family Relationship Centres operated by those organisations and did further study achieving a Masters Degree in Dispute Resolution.He now works in both fields - law and mediation and occasionally counsels.Bernie and Rita have also spent 25 years training couples for marriage, running small group pre-marriage, post-marriage and parenting courses as well as being State Directors of a Marriage Training organisation for many years.They currently run weekends for engaged and married couples based on Biblical principles.

Power On Family Services also provides Dispute Resolution Services (or Mediation) for -
- Parents who have separated (or are thinking of doing so) in relation to parenting arrangements for their children.
- Couples in relation to their property (before, during and after the relationship).
- Couples / parents concerning any other relationship issue.
- Couples who may not have separated but are having conflict and need help to get it sorted.
- Families where conflict is affecting them and they need help to resolve it.
